Amateur Supercross Round #2
Jan 19th, 2010 By Jordan Powell - Motoimpulse.comAbove: Myrie Metzger came out on top in the 50cc 7-8 class and was pumped to pull out the win at round 2 of the Amateur Supercross
With the "storm of the century" rolling into Southern California, the weather couldn't have been any better for the second round of the Amateur Supercross at the Lake Elsinore MX Park. Although the turnout was fairly small, the racing was intense.
The 2nd round witnessed some new comers to the event, along with returning racers from the opener. Now that the date change/conflict for this round two event has passed, the series will start to pick up some steam and move forward. From the looks of things, this Amateur Supercross series will have a great ending just as the AMA Pro Supercross Series will have this year.
Be sure to hit up the remaining three rounds of this event, and check out www.LakeElsinoreMXPark.net for more info.
Kristers Teko (101) charged hard throughout the day, and came out on top in the 125 intermediate class.
Patrick Miltko (97) showed the other riders how to ride a supercross track, and at the same time, took home a first place.
Taylor Hiner (1) had a come from behind win with a 3-1 finish. At one point, Hiner blew a berm, remounted in third, and worked himself back up to first.
Luck was definitely on Parker Eckman's (47) side. With Michael Leib no longer competing, Eckman took home victories in the 125 and 450 Pro classes.
Newcomer Jeff Shanabaiger looked he has been racing for years as he walked all over the 110 stock class, and had style with doing it.
It was a long day for the boys in the 85cc12-13 class as Ryan Surratt (51) pounded lap after lap with unbelievable speed.
Series pro points leader Michael Leib looked to be at the top of his game. Leib took an easy win in the 125 Pro class, but the 450 Pro class was a different story. Leib who was in the lead for the first three laps swapped out after coming up a little short on a small triple, sending him face first into the next jump. The mishap kept him on the ground and out of competition for the day. After being released from the trackside medic, Leib seemed to be ok and called it a day and headed home.
Ty Smith (44) seemed to have no competition as he swept the Supermini class and took the overall win with a 1-1 finish.
