Moose/Parts Unlimited: Moose Racing Riders Claim Top of Podiums
Mar 4th, 2010Whether the racing was indoors or out, Moose Racing’s impressive line-up of riders stake their claim on the top spot on the podium.
For the second week in a row, Moose Racing clad teammates, Tyler Bowers, Chad Johnson and Josh Demuth swept the AMA Arenacross podium for Babbitt’s Monster Energy/TiLUBE Kawasaki at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif.
After narrowly missing the main event holeshot, Bowers quickly moved into the first position and never looked back. He was followed by his teammates, Johnson and Demuth, in that order, and the trio went on to claim their fourth podium sweep of the season. This win is Bowers’ seventh on the season and he extended his championship points lead over his teammates as the series enters its final month of racing. With 11 wins out of 12 races, it’s clear the Moose Racing triple-threat are in the drivers seat for an overall championship podium sweep.
Outside of the arena and on the other side of the country, the Can-AM GNCC season kicked off with the Parts Unlimited River Ranch GNCC from Westgate River Ranch, Fla. Just like Bowers did on the West coast, Moose Racing’s Josh Strang held the top spot on the podium on the East coast.
The grueling three-hour race really tested the XC1 Pro competitors as they were forced to battle through 14 miles of rough Florida sand, waterholes and a talented line-up of riders looking to start their 2010 campaign off with a win. With more than five different lead changes, this season is already shaping up to be one of closest in history.
The Florida round also kicked off the Parts Unlimited Dinner Tour as hundreds of race fans and family members were treated to dinner and drinks under the Moose Racing awning. Serving up the impressive spread was none other than the Moose Racing team riders including, Josh Strang and Jimmy Jarrett!
Back on the track, FMF Makita Suzuki’s Strang sliced through the pack on the first lap after a slow start saw him coming from behind. Strang stalked race leader Charlie Mullins for the entire first half of the race before one of the many waterholes claimed Mullins as a victim. This gave Strang the lead and he began putting some distance between himself and second place.
Entering the final hour of racing, Strang was challenged for the lead by Chris Bach. The two would swap positions multiple times as gas stops, lap riders and the tricky palmetto section of the course all came into play. About two miles from the finish, Strang made his pass stick on Bach and would go on to claim the first win of the season.
After experiencing some bad luck the past few years at the Florida round, Strang had this to say from the top of the podium, "I'm stoked to get the win and get off to a good start for once."
Strang’s Moose Racing teammate, Jimmy Jarrett, battled to a fourth-place finish and will be looking to join Strang on the podium this weekend when the series heads to Washington, Georgia for the Maxxis General GNCC.
In other Moose Racing off-road news, Justin Soule took runner-up honors in the WORCS Pro class after grabbing the holeshot at the all-new Primm, Nev. venue. Soule battled with teammate Ricky Deitrich, for much of the race and was able to get by him in the end for second place. Soule’s strong finish bumps him up into the fourth position overall, just three points out of third.
Stay tuned for additional coverage of the Moose Racing off-road team as the clock starts on the Alligator Enduro this Thursday. Enduro specialist and Moose rider David Knight, will be making an appearance and is always a threat for the win.
